Head of School
On behalf of Alcuin College, we are thrilled that you are considering joining our community of dedicated students, teachers, and staff. Our school’s focus on a well-rounded education, including arts, humanities, and sciences, sets us apart from others.
At our school, we believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and it is our mission to provide a supportive and challenging environment where they can thrive. Our experienced teachers use engaging and interactive methods to foster a love of learning in each student, and our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire their curiosity.
We understand that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision, and we are here to answer any questions you may have. We invite you to come tour our facilities, meet our teachers, and learn more about our programs.
Each child matters. At Alcuin College, we strive to ensure that all students are safe, accepted and respected. Every student has some strengths to build from, and our goal is to give every one of our pupils the opportunity to discover the incredible joy of learning that led us to become teachers in the first place.
If you have more questions, you can schedule a 15 minute call with our Penny Dundas or book a School Tour to learn more about our school and find out if Alcuin is the right fit for your child.
ESSENCE OF OUR BROAD,
EXPERIENTIAL PROGRAMME
Our approach to education centers on students’ inquiries. By prioritizing investigation, we enhance their capacity to retain information, foster fruitful dialogues, and empower them to take responsibility for their own learning. By engaging in inquiry-based learning, students benefit from interdisciplinary lessons, hone their creative thinking skills, and arrive at more sophisticated solutions.
Alcuin believes in the power of bringing local community members into the classroom to connect students with the real world. Professionals are invited to present their roles and emphasize the importance of individuals in a community. Our goal is to help your child build a portfolio of educational experiences that will highlight their strengths and help provide direction for further learning.
THE ALCUIN DIFFERENCE
Student-centered education allows students to engage in active, meaningful learning experiences that help them develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and self-awareness.
At Alcuin, our supportive academic culture allows students to investigate their world and take charge of their learning at their own pace and interest.
Rigorous and personalized education provide students with a challenging and engaging educational experience that is tailored to their unique strengths, interests, and learning needs.
Student learning is a joint partnership between student, parents and educator. Alcuin uses Seesaw, an online platform to facilitate engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. It’s simple to get student work in one place and share with families.
I love so many things about Alcuin! The teachers are the best in the world – they have helped me to feel confident and happy. Genius hour is so much fun because we picked our own project to work on. I also love having a little buddy at the pre-school downstairs.
