Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Alcuin College strives to be a place where every student belongs. Alcuin College understands that a community is enriched when many different voices, viewpoints, backgrounds and identities are engaged and valued. This is achieved by living our core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and compassion. The school respects, affirms and protects the worth and dignity of all persons.

Our JEDI team this year is composed of Ms Holtorf, Ms Korajian, Ms McFadden, Mrs McPhail, Ms Winter and Mrs Ablett. We represent the entire staff who are committed to creating a safe space for our students, where they feel comfortable advocating for themselves and injustices, both locally and globally. This includes educating our students, educating our staff, and engaging with our families. We have planned for professional development for all our teachers, targeted specifically to sensitivity training and appropriate use of culturally-sensitive resources. We are thankful to the parents who have shared their passion for JEDI with us by compiling a resource list for our teachers that will inform our discussions.

We invite you to contact us to share your thoughts, questions or concerns. We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with you in caring discussion, so that we can strengthen our school community together. Racism, injustice and discrimination are never acceptable, and we want you to feel safe and empowered to share your concerns with us. With dialogue and education, we can make progress.
