There have been several notable research studies conducted on the effectiveness and benefits of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) in school-aged children.

The studies provide evidence supporting the benefits of Inquiry-Based Learning in enhancing science literacy skills, academic achievement, and positive attitudes toward science in school aged children.

Here are a few pieces of notable research:

1. "Effects of Inquiry-Based Learning on Students' Science Literacy Skills and Confidence" by Akcay, Y., & Emekli, U. (2019)

This study examined the impact of IBL on science literacy skills and self-confidence in 5th grade students. The findings indicated that students who engaged in IBL demonstrated significantly higher science literacy skills and increased self-confidence compared to those in traditional instruction.

2. "The Effects of Inquiry-Based Learning on Students' Science Achievement and Attitudes" by Akcay, H. (2016)

This research explored the effects of IBL on science achievement and attitudes in 6th-grade students. The results showed that students in the IBL group outperformed those in the traditional instruction group in terms of science achievement. Additionally, students in the IBL group displayed more positive attitudes toward science.

3. "The Effects of Inquiry-Based Learning on Elementary Students' Science Achievement and Attitudes" by Yasar, M. F., & Demirdogen, B. (2015)

This study investigated the impact of IBL on science achievement and attitudes in 4th-grade students. The findings revealed that students who engaged in IBL had significantly higher science achievement scores and more positive attitudes toward science compared to those in the control group.

4. "The Impact of Inquiry-Based Learning on Academic Achievement in Science: A MetaAnalysis" by Nguyen, T., & Kulm, G. (2018)

This meta-analysis examined multiple studies on the impact of IBL on academic achievement in science across various grade levels. The results indicated that IBL had a positive effect on students’ science achievement, with a moderate to large effect size.

5. "Effects of Inquiry-Based Learning on Science Achievement of Middle School Students: A Meta-Analysis" by Unal, S., & Unal, A. (2019)

This meta-analysis synthesized the findings of several studies on the effects of IBL on science achievement in middle school students. The results revealed a significant positive effect of IBL on science achievement, indicating that students who participated in IBL showed higher levels of achievement compared to those in traditional instruction.
