Spotlight on Grad 2023

Sasha D
Attending: UBC Vancouver, Biochemistry
Started at Alcuin: Grade 8
Advice to future grads: “Alcuin is a small community and the teachers truly care about every student, so make sure to use the resources available to you here! They are always happy not only to provide help but to push and challenge you, providing additional resources, learning opportunities and insights. I cannot thank my teachers enough and I hope all future grads can find meaningful relationships and unique knowledge with them as well!

Jason F

Advice to future grads: “As you approach graduation, you will think that you are under a lot of pressure. No matter what you think, the earth will still rotate and the sun will still rise from the east the next day. You can’t predict your life experience, but you must believe in yourself. There will always be your place, where you belong in the vast world. Don’t be afraid, and greet your future!”

Advice to future grads: “Use your resources now while you have them. The support you get here from all these wonderful teachers is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! I also want to emphasize that you do have time for friends – just not all the time. Managing time between school and your social life is a skill that you will need for the rest of your life. Get lots of rest and don’t slack off when you need to work the most!

Jake S

Advice to future grads: “It’s all about balance. Make sure you do your work on time and give your full effort because if you’re going to do something, you might as well do it right. But also don’t forget to enjoy your time in high school, have fun with your friends and make memories. These years are some of the best in your life and they will be done before you know it.”

Christian T
Attending: Queen’s University, Science

Advice to future grads: “Enjoy your time at Alcuin because it does fly by very fast. Make sure to try your best to get high marks but do not stress about getting into specific universities because the teachers have your back and will do all they can to help you achieve your dreams. Most importantly, have lots of fun!”
